UK-REACH DUIN deadline 27 October

As a consequence of Brexit, some UK-based companies that did not have registration duties under REACH may now need to register their substances under UK-REACH if they import substances or mixtures from the EU.

The first step for these companies is to submit a Downstream User Import Notification (DUIN) to HSE, the UK authority responsible for registration of chemicals under UK-REACH. The deadline for this is 27 October 2021.

We would like to bring to your attention the following recent message from HSE:

If you were a GB-based downstream user or distributor under EU-REACH or were regarded as a downstream user by virtue of an Only Representative (OR) agreement, you should notify HSE within the first 300 days of the end of the transition period (27 October 2021) to continue to import into Great Britain.

Once you’ve notified us using the Comply with UK REACH service on GOV.UK you’ll receive a UK REACH DUIN number. You should use this number when you tell us about the substances that you wish to continue importing.

Please circulate this message with your UK-based customers, as their action may be required.

Also, in order to stay in touch with us for the preparation of the UK-REACH dossier please advise them to sign-up to our UK-REACH mailing list.
